This is not a list of fancy exorbitant gadgets out there which I sure will like to have but my wallet wont permit in the near future. Rather, here I have listed gadgets I wish to buy soon.
1) Lenovo Ideapad S10
A netbook for my personal use at home and while traveling.
These ultra-mini laptops has created a whole new market for themselves and all the big laptop players have jumped in to grab a share of the ever increasing market. Not just traveling corporates, but students, professors, housewives, bloggers and everybody else looking for a second laptop just for basic uses find a netbook just perfect.
It has all the processing power needed for surfing the internet while listening to music and running Outlook Express together, it has enough backup to last 3 hours of continuous word processing or browsing and above all – it is light and small enough carry around in college without torturing your neck.
The Lenovo netbook looks stylish and is even lighter. The specs are quite similar with the others of its breed like the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 1 GB of Memory, 10.2 ” display, Wi-Fi enabled, Integrated webcam and mic and a 3 Cell battery powering it to run Windows XP Home quite comfortably.
Unsurprisingly similar to the rest, but the Lenovo brand makes me settle for it. I guess the red one will be perfect for me.
Price : Rs. 23,000.00
2) 22 inch LCD monitor
I am planning to replace the CRT monitor of my home desktop. Now, when upgrading to a LCD monitor from a 17″ CRT, I will prefer to look at a 22″ LCD. The prices of the 19″ and 22″ monitors are quite close. So, going for a 22″ LCD makes perfect sense and the only two other things that I will look for is the connectivity options and the response time.
It should have DVI connectivity with HDCP support so that I can watch BluRay movies when it becomes a little more affordable.
The choices are between Samsung and LG models. Dell is better and expensive.
Price: Rs. 12,500.00
3) Iphone
Although, many will say the hype around it is not completely true, it did redefine your expectations from a cell phone. And it is around there for sometime now, the prices have come down to sensible levels. Quite a few phones rumored to be “Iphone Killers” have been launched but none have been able to stand up to the Iphone.
To me, what makes most Apple products a success apart from their styling, is that their designers put in a lot of thought to make these products easy to use. In case of the Ipod, the clickwheel was the clincher – it made it a hell lot easier to use when most of its competition still had tiny darn buttons. With the Iphone, the GUI is what placed the phone at a level higher than most of its competitors like the Samsung Xperia or the HTC Touch Dual.
Now, with the plethora of applications available, the Iphone is my phone of choice. I am using Asus P320 now which is a good phone considering its price but I will like to own the Iphone soon.
Rs. 31,000.00
4) ITB External Storage
I need this for storing the movies and music I download. One more reason I need one of these is to store safely and in an organized manner family photos taken during gettogethers, vacations, etc.
There are many options like Western Digital, Maxtor, Seagate.
Rs. 6,000.00
5) SLR Digital Camera
Not now, but some time next year I plan to buy a SLR camera. I will prefer a Canon.
Rs. 60,000.00
Total : Rs. 1,38,500.00
I have to stop here. I want to be rich someday. And there are bloggers like Amit Bhawani who makes money by blogging about how to make money!
